Privacy policy
Last updated 9 October 2026.
Crime by Postcode has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We do not sell or share data about you. What the site remembers stays in your own browser.
Who is responsible
Crime by Postcode is run by RAFAEL CARDOSO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17323841), registered office 17 Nethercroft Lane, Danesmoor, Chesterfield, S45 9DE, England. We are the controller of the little personal data described below. Contact: [email protected].
What reaches our server, and what we do with it
- The places you look up. When you search, tap the map, set a radius or compare places, your browser sends what is needed to answer: the search text, a postcode or district, map coordinates and the radius. We use it to send back the answer and do not store it.
- Page visits. We do not keep logs of the pages you visit.
- Your location, only if you ask. "Use my location" asks your browser for permission first. If you allow it, your coordinates are sent like a tapped point on the map, and are not stored.
We use this only to give you the answer you ask for, which is our legitimate interest in running the site. Your location is used only if you give permission.
What is kept in your browser
Crime by Postcode uses your browser's own storage (not cookies) for things you choose to keep. It stays on your device, we cannot see it, and you can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings:
- Your compare picks: up to three places.
Other services your browser talks to
- Cloudflare carries all traffic to Crime by Postcode and protects it from attacks, so it sees your IP address and the pages requested. It may set a cookie that is strictly necessary for that protection. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- OpenFreeMap serves the map. Your browser downloads map tiles from it directly, so it sees your IP address and the area you are viewing. openfreemap.org.
Crime by Postcode's own servers are in Germany, in the European Union.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. Because we keep nothing linked to you, there is usually nothing to give or delete, but write to [email protected] and we will answer within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk.
Changes
If Crime by Postcode ever adds accounts or anything else that keeps data about you, this policy will be updated before that feature goes live, and the date at the top will change.
