Advertise on Crime by Postcode
People come here to check an area before they move, rent, buy, sell or visit. You can reach them in two ways: on the map toolbar, seen by everyone, or in one council area, seen by people looking at that area.
Who advertises here
The ads that work best are for what people need when they are choosing where to live: estate and letting agents, mortgage brokers, conveyancing solicitors, surveyors, removal firms, storage, home security and insurance, builders and tradespeople, and local businesses serving the area.
The ad spaces
- Map toolbar: two spaces side by side above the map on computers, shown everywhere in the UK. 50p a day for each space (£3.50 a week, £15 for a 30-day month). One advertiser can take both spaces as one wide banner, for £1 a day.
- Council area: one space in the results panel, shown when someone drops a pin or searches inside the council area you choose, for example only in Leeds. 25p a day for each council area (£1.75 a week, £7.50 for a 30-day month). You can book several council areas.
Sizes and examples
- One toolbar space: up to 60 pixels tall, about 600 pixels wide.
- Both toolbar spaces as one wide banner: up to 60 pixels tall, about 1,200 pixels wide.
- Council area: up to 150 pixels tall, about 340 pixels wide (the width of the results panel).
- Wider or narrower ads are scaled to fit the space, never stretched taller than its height. Video and animation play without sound, loop for at most 30 seconds and never flash more than three times a second. Image and video files can be up to 2 MB.
These examples are shown at their real height (names and offers are made up):
How it works
- Email dev@rafaelcardoso.co.uk with your business name, the ad (or what it should say), the web address it should link to, the spaces or council areas you want and the dates.
- We read every ad, and the page it links to, before it goes live. We tell you whether the ad is accepted.
- The ad can be anything that meets the guidelines below: a banner, an image, text, a GIF or other animation, or a short video. It always carries a small "Ad" label and links to one page.
- Each space shows one ad at a time for the dates agreed. One advertiser can book one toolbar space, both of them as a wide banner, or as many council areas as they like.
Ad guidelines
Every ad, and the page it links to, must meet these guidelines for as long as it runs. We decide whether an ad meets them, and we may refuse or remove an ad at any time.
Every ad must
- be legal in the United Kingdom and follow the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (the CAP Code) and the rules of the Advertising Standards Authority;
- be honest and accurate, with no false or misleading claims about prices, results or the business behind it;
- say clearly who the advertiser is, and link to a working page that matches the ad;
- hold any licence or authorisation the product needs (for example, financial products must come from a firm authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority).
We do not accept ads that
- are pornographic or sexually suggestive, or promote adult services, adult content or sex-focused dating;
- promote anything illegal in the UK, such as illegal drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, stolen goods or unlicensed services;
- promote gambling, tobacco, vaping, recreational drugs or weapons of any kind;
- play on fear of crime, say or suggest that an area or the people living there are dangerous, or use crime figures from this site to sell;
- discriminate against anyone, for example by race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age or nationality, including housing ads that exclude groups of people;
- contain hate, violence, shocking images or content that targets children;
- are scams, get-rich-quick schemes, pyramid schemes, or unregulated investment offers, including cryptoasset offers;
- make health claims that are not backed by evidence, or sell medicines that need a prescription;
- are political or campaign ads;
- pretend to be part of Crime by Postcode, a police force or a government body.
No tracking
We host every ad's image or video file ourselves, so the ad is a picture or text with a plain link. Ads may not include scripts, tracking pixels or cookies, or load anything from another site, and the link may not carry codes that identify a visitor. This keeps the promise in our privacy policy.
