Police and Crime Commissioners in England and Wales
The government plans to abolish Police and Crime Commissioners in May 2028. Where an area has an elected mayor, the mayor will run policing; elsewhere, new police and crime boards made up of council leaders will. The law to do this has not been passed yet. Source
